New England on a Pedestal is a fun and informative look at local New England history, its people and places by exploring its numerous statues, monuments, memorials, and sculptures.
Great question! New England has a long and varied history dating back to before the first settlers arrived. Today, we can find statues, monuments, memorials, and sculptures all around us. But how often do we stop to wonder why that piece is there? New England on a Pedestal takes a look at some of these stories, people, and events. We look into who the statue represents, what they did, how they affected New England. We talk about the artists and sculptors who created these works of art. We try to give you, the listener, a bit of a story, a taste of local history. If it intrigues you enough, maybe you'll dig a little a little deeper on your own and discover more of the story. We try to keep our episodes on the shorter side. Long enough to listen over your morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine. Short enough to listen to on your commute to work or back home. We cover all six New England states and occasionally will take a "field trip" of sorts and highlight interesting places away from our New England home.
